Proudly sitting on his throne of gold ingots and auspicious coins, the King Chan Chu is a powerful wealth symbol indeed. It is much larger than the other Money Toads and is sitting on a huge bed of gold ingots and coins.
This mythical creature is said to appear every full moon near homes which the residents will receive good news the very next day. This is usually in the form of wealth or monetary gain. They are called "Chan Chu" in Chinese but is more commonly known as the Money Toad or the Three Legged Toad. In ancient China, these mythical Toads are believed to be the bringer of fortune.
They are traditionally placed next to the Altar of the Earth God. The three-legged money Toad holds a Chinese Coin in its mouth and sits on a pile of gold coins. On the back of the King Chan Chu are 7 diamond dots depicting the Ursa Major (Great North Pole 7 Stars). The seven stars of the Northern Skies are where the study of Chinese Elemental Astrology is based. These same 7 stars coupled with 2 hidden supporting stars in the Northern Skies represent the famous 9 Stars of the Bagua. And needless to say, this is the basis for all study on Feng Shui.
